Chilled Beams
Steel Ceilings are pleased to announce that, as part of their expansion into energy saving ceiling systems, they now offer high quality Chilled Beams.
Chilled Beams work on the principle of cooling air through fins and hydronic copper pipes, primarily to move air, saving up to 80%, and increasing people comfort below.
These lightweight beams are easily incorporated into standard suspended ceilings and exposed T grid or bolt slot systems. The amount of induced discharged air is controlled by variable nozzle positions, and the temperature is controlled by actuators with either digital or analog controls. A complete shut off at one side is an available option. Other features include low noise, low maintenance and flexibility. A single high capacity heating and cooling panel can supply a 100 sq. ft. space.
Announcement of Merger
Steel Ceilings, Inc and Airtite Radiant Ceilings Systems
Steel Ceilings, Inc. and Airtite Radiant Ceiling Systems are pleased to announce the merger of their businesses effective June 1, 2009. The new business will operate under the name of Steel Ceilings, Inc. with the three divisions of architectural metal ceilings and walls, security ceilings and radiant ceilings. Grant Snowden will remain President with Paul Neider as Vice President and head of the radiant division.
Steel Ceilings has been an industry leader in the metal ceilings and walls business for over 60 years. Utilizing it's expertise it has manufactured the metal pans for Airtite Radiant and previously manufactured all of their hydronic radiant products. Airtite radiant has been a pioneer and promoter of radiant ceilings for over 50 years, supplying projects across North America, such as Chicago's O'Hare airport, Nationwide Office Tower in Columbus and University of Pennsylvania Laboratories. Radiant ceilings are a highly effective and energy efficient method of providing superior temperature comfort for building occupants by using water to heat and cool buildings instead of air.
Both the metal ceilings market and the radiant ceilings heating and cooling market are growing in the USA, due to the increased enthusiasm for sustainability in building design and operation. The products align extremely well and compliment projects that aim to achieve LEED points and grading.
The merger will create synergy, and allow an increase in depth of expertise within these markets. An example of which can be seen on the multi million dollar contract for Portland Airport Oregon, where Airtite Radiant Ceiling Systems are being used in conjunction with Steel Ceiling's Torsion Spring panels.
Airtite Radiant will move its manufacturing from Cleveland to Steel Ceilings' plant near Columbus, Ohio, but will retain a sales office near Cleveland.
